After Ranbir Kapoor, Manoj Bajpayee contracts COVID-19
The resurgence of the COVID-19 pandemic in Maharashtra, especially Mumbai, has resulted in the infection of Bollywood’s leading stars. On Saturday, film actor Manoj Bajpayee tested positive for the virus. As a precautionary measure, the shooting of the film ‘Dispatch’ has been halted.
Recently, Ranbir Kapoor too contracted the virus while shooting in Mumbai’s Filmcity. However, the test results of Alia Bhatt and Aryan Mukherjee, who were working closely with Ranbir, have come negative. Despite negative reports, Alia Bhatt and Aryan have quarantined themselves. As a matter of concern, the two were spotted earlier without a mask inside a local temple.
On Saturday, the early news of an outbreak of COVID-19 infection came out from the sets of the film ‘Dispatch’. People associated with the film informed that the shooting of the film has been halted for a month. Along with Manoj Bajpayee, the film’s director Kanu Behl has also tested positive for COVID-19. Treatment of the duo has been initiated and the authorities have asked them to stay in quarantine for at least two weeks.
According to some reports, within the Mumbai Filmcity, COVID-19 protocols are not being followed as required. People without face masks are being allowed to enter the Filmcity without any objection. Even inside the Filmcity, people are seen walking around the premises without masks. In Mumbai, COVID-19 infection is spreading rapidly due to the evident carelessness of fellow citizens. Also, people commuting from outside the city are not being subjected to quarantine as of now.
Every day, numerous actors and technicians serving in the film and TV industry arrive in Mumbai. According to some reports, to avoid quarantine, people arriving from other countries use fake COVID-19 reports. As checking out from Mumbai Airport requires a negative COVID-19 report, artists arriving from abroad deliberately land in other cities and then travel to Mumbai with the help of local transport.
